The popularity of the Bulgarian coast and sea resorts has grown rapidly since the opening of the borders for tourism. Bulgaria has a lot to offer, it's Black Sea Coast stretches for over 378km dotted with fishing villages and resorts on long extensive beaches of fine golden sand. The North coast is steeper, though more developed in terms of tourism facilities, while the South coast is flatter and wilder with numerous cosy beaches. Here the villages are smaller and picturesque. There are more than 200 hours of sunshine in May and September, with more than 300 in July and August. The temperatures in summer are between 23C and 31C. The Black Sea is clean and calm with no tides. The sandy bottom slopes gently making bathing and swimming safe.
